Warner Did It

Sorry about that last blog, I was rained out. Tonight we can blame everything on Australia's Warner. Warner did it, and it may or may not have involved "fancy dress" ("costumes" for those of you who speak American) but it definately involved Root so I say Warner was England's demise, or Sangakarra. But anyway, England lost to Sri Lanka and I for one was shocked. When I saw that England had posted an impressive 293 I thought Sri Lanka was doomed. But then they went out to bat and they got a few runs, and a few more, and few more, and suddenly Sangakarra has 134 and Sri Lanka win by 7 wickets with 17 balls remaining. Since Australia and New Zealand both got a no result from yesterdays rain-out it sets up an interesting situation in group A. No one in that group is guaranteed a pass to the next round and all 4 of them need to score a win in their next matches. In group B, India is moving on, Pakistan is out so Saturdays game will be for pride. But the match tomorrow between South Africa and the West Indies will determine who else goes through.

As for us, BOB SURGED! He wanted to make sure I put that in the blog. Bob surged! He loves him some Sri Lankans. Anna and Catherine seems to be in their own competition at the top. Catherine had a bit of surge herself today and is within 100 points of Anna. Three more of us are battling for 3rd - Bob (who surged), Missy (who was surged upon) and James (who has a crick in his neck from looking over his shoulder at his parents. And NO James don't think because you're the favorite they won't take you out in a heart beat). There is also a battle happening for the Sweaty Teddy. Jolie and Hilary have been jocking for the coveted last place, which rookie will come out on top? The rest of us? well, we are there in the middle somewhere..............

  1. So many serious surges is frightening but shows how hotly contested this competition is. Yes, I have to agree with you, Katy. Henry and I were just as shocked when Sri Lanka just kept hitting harder and further until England's score was demolished. Did you see the look on Sangakarra's face? So Group A is a nailbiter and today's match will be interesting. I hope you will all be cheering England on on Sunday! Do it for me.... Good luck with the ever more difficult trade decisions.

  2. By the way, Missy and Bob, your progress through the 'bunch' is amazing - what is your secret? I know, you aren't telling are you?

  3. Good for you, Bob, surging like that! And Missy, too. It looks like a rainy day for cricket, so, by the end of the day, everyone may be as confused as I am. I shall live in hope.

  4. O.K. Catherine, here's my secret. Pick players that make points!
You don't seem to have any trouble doing that this year. But watch out because "The Thunder" is booming.
