Thank You All!!

Thank you everyone for playing a little cricket with me.  As always, its been fun and nerve racking and exciting.  I do appreciate everyone's willingness to join in the game.  And a big thanks to Anna and James for the worm.  I look forward to the worm each day.

Looks like Australia 2022 will be our next adventure.  I do have some questions though before then.  I think there are some issues with the cricketweb site.  Its kinda clunky and I think the challenge isn't quite there like it used to be.  I feel like we have to many trades. so other than your captain, you can just have a new team each day.  Also, the allotted number of player points is really no challenge. I don't know about you all but only in the Final match was player points as issue for me.  I think maybe this is why there isn't all that much movement within our group.  Anyone else have thoughts about the site we use?  There must be other fantasy sites out there, are you all open for a change?

Katy Robinson you are the early bird!

Where's My Team??

Don't fret, its still there.  Log onto Cricetweb and on the right you'll see "Recently Archived Teams"  Click on T20 World Cup 2021, you'll see your team and if you scroll all the way to the bottom there will be a link to the Robinson Cricketers Rout

The DRS Zone

Australia beat Pakistan by 5 wickets.  I seem to have chosen all the players who earned negative points.  I am now in serious jeopardy of the overtake.  Fingers crossed Anna's captain has a middling game, and James' captain as well for  good measure.  Catherine looks poised to overtake Missy and Henry is poised to overtake Michael.  One duck could decide it all.  New Zealand and Australia will play for all the marbles on Sunday, starting at 6 am (my time).  So you have a few days to contemplate your overtaking strategy, fire up the KERS and get yourself in the DRS zone.

Worm before the last worm which is the next worm.

I'm in Trouble

Michael and I turned on the game as we booted the  kids out the door for school.  It was the last over of the England Innings.  They had put up a decent score to chase of 166/4, we settled in for some cricket.  Initially it did not look good for New Zealand, they lost a few wickets pretty early and things were just a bit slow.  But, Mitchell and Conway had a pretty good partnership going and their total steadily climbed.  It was still showing only a 17% chance of them winning well into the 2nd half of the inning.  Then Neesham came in.  And Jordan was bowling.  And boy oh boy did the tide make an abrupt turn around.  Neesham was only in for a few overs but he managed to earn 27 runs off of only 11 balls.  And when he went out, Mitchell carried on as if his name was Neesham, he started cracking boundaries like no bodies business.  So in the end, with 6 balls and 5 wickets remaining, New Zealand won, and we had to say goodbye to my captain.  Its a sad sad day.  I feel very vulnerable just now. no captain for these last two matches.  Its so close, any of you people can surge ahead of me, well anyone but Sean.  I'm getting out the super glue to try and hang on.

Australia / Pakistan tomorrow.  No need for a captain, really, you'll be fine

Keep on Worming

On the eve of great things

We all sit on the eve of great things, of winning a tournament, of beating a brother or a sister, or a dad.  On the eve of worming our way out of the pack, surging ahead, picking just the right guys.  England and New Zealand tomorrow.  Get some sleep.

A Whole Lotta Converging Going On

New Zealand Beat Afghanistan and Pakistan beat Scotland.  So the Semifinal games are set.  England will play New Zealand on Wednesday, then Australia will play Pakistan on Thursday.  But don't forget that there is a match tomorrow as well.  India play Namibia for no reason whatsoever, but someone will score points so you may as well make some trades.

In our friendly group the worm is starting to look like there's only three lines, everything is converging.  It's tight, real tight. How are you planning to separate yourself from the others?  Can't all pick the same people.  What big plans do you have?  Planning on a captain change or two?  Banking it all on one team? What are your secrets?

Worming our way in.

Getting down to it

South Africa beat England today, it was their first loss.  I'm not sure what happened with England's bowlers, they let SA put up 189/2, yes, 2.  van der Dussen with 94 and Markram with 52.  They did manage to claw back 179 of those but if my maths is correct, that's 10 short.  3 wicket haul to Rabada.  Other than a bruised ego England didn't suffer for their loss and still end the round at the top of their group.  SA unfortunately misses out and will be going home, they did finish with 8 points but lost out to Australia on net run rate.

Australia meanwhile secured there berth in the semis by beating the West Indies.  Although from what I hear, it was more of a party atmosphere rather than a hard fought cricket match.  International cricket will be saying goodbye to the Windies Bravo and Gayle.  I don't know much about cricket but I did get a chance to see them both play in person and Gayle cracked a 6 that smashed a window.  So congrats boys on you careers, you will be missed.

meanwhile in group 2 Pakistan is through (I think there is a very small chance that if the stars aligned just so they would go through  but ...) there are 3 teams however that could feasibly take the 2nd spot, New Zealand, India, and Afghanistan.  NZ has the best chance but they are playing Afghanistan tomorrow so it won't be easy.

Has your captain gone through?  Do you have enough trades left? Lots of worming left to be done

The worms go in and the worms go out.

When First We Practice to Up Weave

There's been much up weaving and down weaving going on around here lately.  Sri Lanka beat the West Indies by 20 runs in a ho hum game it seems (I didn't watch it so maybe it was super exciting) but there was a major blowout going on the other game between Bangladesh and Australia.  Bangladesh went all out after 15 overs, only putting up 73 to chase.  Zampa earned a 5 wicket haul for that inning.  It took Australia a mere 6 overs to run that total down and win with 8 wickets to spare, sending Bangladesh home.

Closer to home, Missy's revenge was not so sweet today as she forgot to confirm her trades, dropping her down to 4 place.  Things are tight, real tight.  Only 150 points separate James to Anna and again to Mom.  Meanwhile Catherine is back on trade game and closing in.  Henry hung on but Michael can smell victory from 70 points away.  We're getting down to the end, so its now or never folks.

Tomorrow New Zealand / Namibia and India / Scotland

Oh What a Tangled Worm We Weave

Watch Out Henry!

Henry overtaking Michael in the worm seems to have been the nudge Michael needed to get his Erasmus in the game.  He's made trades and he's not messing about.

India beat Afghanistan by 66 runs.  Rahul got 69 and 74 for Sharma.  They ended their innings with 210/2.  I could be wrong but I think that is the highest total we've seen so far.  So, well done India.  Afghanistan couldn't match that.

New Zealand meanwhile, beat Scotland by 16 runs.  They opened with 172/5 Guptil narrowly missing out on the century with 93.  Scotland went a full 20 overs but just came up short.

Tomorrow everyone must win, they are battling it out for a chance at that 2nd spot.  Well, not Bangladesh, their pretty much out.  But the rest are all battling.  West Indies is unlikely but still battling.  So most of them are battling for that second spot in group 1.  Make good trades.

Different Day, Same Worm

Pakistan wins and James did the worm

Pakistan beat Namibia by 45 runs.  Rizwan (79) and Azam (70) did the lions share of the work.  With this win, Pakistan has 8 points, topping group 2.  So, I believe they are guaranteed to go through, who will join them?  Afghanistan?  Or maybe New Zealand will pick up their game.  A lot  may be decided when those two hit the pitch tomorrow.

In Group 1, England sits a top the pack, while South Africa and Australia look to be vying for the 2nd slot.  Nothing decided tomorrow for these guys, we'll have to wait.  SOuth Africa did beat Bangladesh today, but looking at the scorecard it seems Bangladesh went back to bed.  Snooze fest.

There is some fearce competition happening around here as well.  Anna and James are separated by a wicket or two and Missy shouldn't feel to comfortable with her gap.  I think all the jostling between these two should provide Catherine the perfect opportunity to surge on by while they're not looking.  Get on those trades Catherine, you've got plenty.  Try a new captain, then tomorrow, try another.

A Changing of the Guard - at least temporarily

Anna has a date with a mouse so James has agreed to reem the worm.  Thanks James for taking on this critical task, try not to fall asleep at the pole.

England sure weren't asleep today as they easily beat Sri Lanka by 26.  England were at the bat first and with Buttler putting up 101 no out they reached a total of 163/4 for Sri Lanka to chase.  3 wicket haul for Hasaranga.  Sri Lanka just could not bat today I'm afraid, Englands bowling was just to strong, they went all out after 19 overs 26 runs short.  Until today only 3 out of 16 games had been won by the side who batted first, so well done England on beating the odds.

I also beat the odds!  I have been having some seriously good luck the last few days and I surged past my entire family.  How's it feel to have the baby in the lead?  Feels pretty good for the baby I'll say.  Will it last?  Who knows, I'm only a golden duck away from doom.  Henry has also had a nice surge, finally taking down his eldest.  Join me at the top Henry, we'll go for ice cream!

Tomorrow its Bangladesh / South Africa and Pakistan / Namibia

Good Luck

Here you leave today and enter the world of yesterday, tomorrow, and worm

We've been cow cornered!  Way to surge!

The worm will be going into hibernation for a few days.  Hopefully my team won't follow suit.  I expect it will peek its head out again on Saturday.  Where will Katy be then?
